Mother May I

Confess that I no longer need your approval to be myself.  I cannot live up to the hetero expectations that you have for me.  I am a lesbian, it’s not your fault, it’s totally normal and I am not going to hell for it.

Mother May I

Remind you that I love you.  I have always looked up to you.  I’ve overlooked your shortcomings, remained faithful and on your side.  I am your biggest fan.

Mother May I

Only have to endure the heartache of your rejection until you come to your senses.

Mother May I

Someday know your unconditional love and acceptance.

Brilliant!!!!! Your work is magnificent just like the stories of Jorge Zamora. Both of you are authentic writers, but this free verse poem is meaningful and should receive greater attention. Keep up the good worker and one day you will be recognized and your writing will be rewarded by editors, and other highly praised writers.
